Eight infrastructure projects in Expo 2020 Dubai received the highest ratings of "Sequal", the internationally recognized system for assessing sustainability in civil engineering, which represents a milestone in the march of "Expo 2020", to become one of the most sustainable versions of the "World Expo" ever .

The ratings of "Sequal", the world's first sustainability rating, classification and certification system for best practices in infrastructure projects, range from "successful" by 30% to "excellent" at 75%, and are determined based on a range of sustainability issues, including the use of Land, environment, transportation, resilience and pollution.

Expo 2020 is the first project in the Middle East to be awarded an "Excellent" rating from Sequal.

Al Wasl Square

Al Wasl Square, the beating heart of Expo 2020, which connects the three subject areas and provides a meeting point within a shady local climate unlike anything in Dubai, has surpassed the highest award threshold, with a score of 91.6%.

As for the "steel trellis" of the Al Wasl Dome, which is 130 meters in diameter and 67.5 meters in height, which surrounds the square and constitutes the largest 360-degree display in the world, it recorded a higher rate of 93.6%.

The certificates of excellence granted to Expo 2020 are among the largest lists of awards presented by the Sequal system for a single site globally. They represent the most prestigious awards in the field of civil engineering, and highlight the success of the international event in integrating the principles of sustainable design in its various buildings and components of its infrastructure and coordination His gardens.

Sequal system

The Sequal system was launched in 2004, after it was developed by the Institution of Civil Engineers, based in the United Kingdom, and other institutions in the field.

It is now part of the PRIM suite of programs within the BRI Global group, bringing together world-leading sustainability assessment methods to classify buildings, master plans and infrastructures across the life cycle of established assets.
