Craft beer is being developed using peaches, a specialty of Kinokawa City, Wakayama Prefecture, and the preparation work has begun on the 20th.

This craft beer is being developed by brewing companies in Kinokawa City, Wakayama Prefecture and Izumisano City, Osaka, and makes effective use of peaches that could not be shipped due to their small size.

At the brewing company, the preparation work began on the 20th, and malt was put in a kettle filled with hot water to make "wort," which is the source of beer.

I have decided to cut 100 kg of peaches into this wort and soak them in it, and ferment and ripen them for about a month to extract the aroma.

Craft beer is expected to be completed by the end of next month, and will be sold at liquor stores and roadside stations in Kinokawa and Izumisano.

Mr. Satoshi Iwahashi of the Kinokawa City Commerce, Industry and Labor Division said, "By utilizing peaches that have not been used until now, we want to increase the income of farmers and make them known as a new local specialty."
