Duplantis became the Swedish athlete of the year

On Thursday evening, the best Swedish athletes of the year were praised at the alternative, slightly simpler athletics gala.

Not entirely unexpectedly, pole vaulter Armand Duplantis received the award as Athlete of the Year.

- I want to say thank you to the athletics association, mom, dad and the whole family - and also everyone who supported me.

2020 was a strange year but I am very grateful for the award.

Ståhl took home three prizes

Duplantis received the Bragdguldet earlier this week for its record jumps both indoors and outdoors this season.

He is also one of the favorites to be named the world's top athlete at the World Athletics Digital Gala on Saturday.

Daniel Ståhl was also praised at the gala. The discus thrower took home three awards: this year's achievement in the Swedish Athletics Championships, this year's achievement Folksam GP and this year's achievement in the national team.
