The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai (Dubai Tourism) recently held its first direct meeting with its partners since the start of the "Covid-19" pandemic, in the presence of 600 officials and executives of the most prominent companies operating in sectors including aviation, tourism and travel, hospitality, as well as trade Retail, entertainment and major attractions.

The department confirmed that the proactive steps taken by Dubai, as part of its efforts to combat the Coronavirus pandemic, have won the confidence of international travelers.

During the meeting, which was held in the Fitness Village at the Dubai Festival City Center, the light was shed on the steps that Dubai Tourism is taking to advance the tourism sector, as well as cooperating with partners around the world to restore momentum to the global travel market.

The Director General of Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing Department, Hilal Saeed Al-Marri, who chaired the meeting, said: “The directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, have contributed to combating the (Covid-19) pandemic in "Passing this stage with high efficiency, besieging the epidemic in the narrowest possible scale, and in accordance with the vision of His Highness, we have worked to develop innovative initiatives to contribute to enhancing competitiveness and increasing the city’s attractiveness to tourists."

He stressed that the proactive steps taken by Dubai, as part of its efforts to combat this pandemic, and its commitment to preventive measures, have earned the confidence of international travelers, which gave it an opportunity to be one of the first global cities able to host tourists from markets in which travel has become available and possible.

He added that the initial indications during the past months, starting with the resumption of air traffic last July, are promising more positive results in the coming period, especially with Dubai airports receiving an increasing number of passengers, which confirms that we are on the right path towards achieving better performance by the end This year.

He continued: "The past period that we have gone through has proven the efficiency and flexibility of our system, especially the hotel establishments, which played an important role in stimulating domestic tourism and moving it towards new, more welcoming horizons, and thus consolidating this positive image in the minds of potential Dubai visitors."

On the elements of the speedy recovery of the tourism sector in Dubai, Al-Marri stressed that the strategy of diversification of markets, economic stimulus packages, and the support provided by partners made us stronger in facing challenges and responding quickly to market changes, which contributed to establishing Dubai's position as a safe and preferred destination to visit in a record period.

For his part, the Executive Director of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Essam Kazem, said that the marketing activities carried positive messages about travel, as well as Dubai's willingness to receive international visitors, safety standards and the quality of tourism offers in Dubai.

As for the Executive Director of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Corporation, Ahmed Al Khaja, he reviewed the annual Dubai Calendar for the retail sector for 2021 and the activities it contains that will contribute to the advancement of this vital sector.
