Dubai Electricity Research Center files a patent for charging drones

The Research and Development Center of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has registered a new patent for the unmanned aircraft charging system (Drones), which allows continuous charging of aircraft, longer flight hours, greater storage capacity, in addition to improving charging efficiency, and facilitating the charging process.
The innovative system relies on the use of a group of unmanned aircraft to magnetically charge the main drone, and charging technology by electromagnetic induction. This innovative system can be used for aircraft operating in the governmental, military, commercial and personal fields.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, praised the tireless efforts of researchers, which resulted in an innovative system that contributes to raising the efficiency of operational operations that depend on drones, and developing the energy and water sector.
He pointed out that "the patents registered by the Research and Development Center support the center's endeavors, which aim to become a global platform for launching promising technologies, ensuring that the authority's position as one of the best service institutions in the world is preserved.
The center also contributes to enriching the scientific community in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and the world, by disseminating knowledge and developing the talents and capabilities of Emirati researchers.”

For his part, the Executive Vice President of the Business Development and Excellence Sector at the authority, Engineer Walid bin Salman, indicated that “the patent supports the development of the authority’s work that relies on drones, including periodic self-examination of photovoltaic panels, at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Energy Complex. Solar, the largest solar energy complex in the world, in one site, according to the independent producer system, where the authority uses drones to ensure that the photovoltaic panels produce the required amount of energy.”
He said: “Given that the new innovative system provides longer working hours for aircraft, it will contribute to saving time and effort, increasing productivity, and improving the accuracy of plate inspections. Ease and comfort, according to the highest international standards, to enhance the happiness of all stakeholders.”
