Dubai Customs: 12.6 thousand tons of goods worth 948 million dirhams for "Expo"

With the launch of the Expo 2020 Dubai in early October, with the participation of 191 countries along with companies, international organizations and academic institutions, Dubai Customs reported that it had completed 1,432 customs declarations for Expo goods, and the amount of goods cleared for the exhibition amounted to 12.6 thousand tons, with a value of more than 948 million dirhams. .

Dubai Customs revealed the customs facilities and advantages that it offers to participants and visitors to the exhibition, including the provision of all Dubai Customs services through its electronic platforms and smart applications, including electronic registration, submission of customs data, and approval of copies and electronic documents without the need to visit the centers.

 With regard to registration and licensing, the Dubai Trade Portal platform has been approved for requests for licenses for official participants, and the extraction of customs codes to facilitate and expedite the shipping and registration procedures at the Federal Customs Authority. Operational units know the participants and ensure the speed of response.

 It was also decided to exempt the participating countries from paying registration fees to facilitate and reduce expenses on companies, which will reflect positively on the role of customs in supporting trade and facilitating the passage of goods.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Director General of Dubai Customs, said that Dubai Customs has participated in supporting the exhibition since the submission of the hosting file and continued to provide customs services and facilities around the clock to the participants, and Dubai Customs crowned its efforts by winning the award of the government entity supporting Expo 2020 In the 21st cycle of the Dubai Government Excellence Program Awards for the year 2018.

He added that we have multiple and varied services that meet all the needs of exhibitors and visitors, and among our services for trade facilities for the exhibition are the “Expo 2020 smart customs channel”, the temporary entry book for goods, the approved economic operator program that was launched at the federal level and the smart early disclosure system for travelers to speed up the movement of visitors, and during the exhibition activities. Expo Dubai Customs will present an integrated presentation to inform the participants of the trade and customs services and facilities, with the aim of attracting more foreign investments to the commercial sector, enhancing trade exchange with partners and opening new trade lines, stressing that the Expo represents an economic and cultural event for a period of 6 months, which is what It represents a qualitative and rich addition to the comprehensive local economy system, achieving sustainable development that the wise leadership aspires to, and consolidating Dubai's position on the map of global cities as a destination for tourism, economy, investment and living in luxury and happiness.

For his part, Ibrahim Al Kamali, Director of Passenger Operations Department at Dubai Customs, confirmed that the department has completed its preparations to receive the global event, as we announce the readiness of 864 of the department’s employees for the Expo, with the presence of 447 inspectors around the clock, and a training program (induction program for Expo) was held in cooperation with With Dubai Airports to prepare the inspectors to receive visitors, as the program works to provide all information related to the exhibition, such as (exhibition location - exhibition duration - ticket prices - exempt categories - exhibition working hours - future projects - the main pavilions of the exhibition, which are the sustainability pavilion, the opportunity pavilion and the mobility pavilion) The program also focused on answering any inquiries from an Expo visitor or any traveler during the exhibition period.

He added: "In the Passenger Operations Department, we prepared a special work team to receive Expo visitors. The team included members from all passenger terminals. Periodic meetings were held with strategic partners to follow up on developments and put forward the best initiatives to facilitate the entry of Expo visitors, such as coordinating the presence of a doctor from the Ministry of Health and Community Protection at airports for information. And the release of personal medicines, special tracks for people of determination, and the provision of a special track for people of determination, in cooperation with the Expo office.
