Former drummer and co-founder of the Bavarian cult band Spider Murphy Gang, Franz Trojan, died at the age of 64.

The band knew that he died on September 15 in Kamp-Linfort, North Rhine-Westphalia, said their concert manager Lothar Schlessmann of the German Press Agency (dpa) on Thursday evening.

The Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation (BR) reported about it first.

Trojan was the drummer of the Spider Murphy Gang until 1992 ("Scandal in the restricted area").

The band, founded in 1977, had their greatest successes between 1980 and 1983, actually played classic rock 'n' roll, but wrote a hit on Neue Deutsche Welle with “Scandal im Sperrgebiet”.

Trojan last lived impoverished in a trailer.

The magazine of the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" visited him there in September 2012.
