Täby is one of the areas where the number of minors suspected of drug and violent crimes has increased.

There are a total of 113 open cases where the suspect is under 18. Bosse Pan is the preliminary investigation leader in the police youth group in Täby.

- Only the pure amount has increased, and what makes it build on is that there will be more serious crimes that take longer to investigate, says Bosse Pan to Ekot.

Those suspected of drug and violent crimes are also getting younger and younger.

- We have had 12-year-olds suspected of robbery, we have some 12-14-year-olds suspected of drug crimes, Bosse Pan continues.

Increases every year

Since 2016, there has been an annual increase in drug and violence crimes, where the suspect is under 18. This is a trend that looks set to continue this year as well.

In 2019, there were almost 27,000 suspicions of drug and violent crimes with a minor suspect.

"Serious organized crime"

Tove Werner Pettersson, police officer in the youth group in Täby, has close contact with both school and social services.

She also testifies to the development.

- We have never seen these numbers as we have now, so something happens.

A couple of years ago, it was a one-time occurrence if we had a youth robbery.

This spring we had around 20. It may sound a bit, but in our area it is not a bit because we have not had that type of crime here, she says.
