Afghan officials said that an explosion destroyed a mosque during Friday prayers in the northern city of Kunduz, killing 33 people and wounding dozens.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban government, confirmed on Twitter the death toll and said 43 people were also wounded.
"We condemn this crime... and express our deepest condolences to the bereaved," he wrote.
He explained that "the perpetrators of these incidents are evil elements," and that strong efforts are being made "to arrest and punish them."
It was not known who was responsible for this bombing.
Several explosions took place Thursday in the cities of Kunduz and Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan, for which ISIS claimed responsibility.
One of the bombings targeted a mosque and another, a few days before it, a school in western Kabul, whose leaders belong to the Shiite sect, and the Taliban authorities announced the arrest of its "arbitrator".
In October, a suicide attack at a Shiite mosque in Kunduz also killed about 55 people and wounded dozens, and the Islamic State claimed the attack.
