China News Service, Guangzhou, September 24 (Cai Minjie and Wang Zhimin) The "Seminar on Prevention and Control of Vaccine Preventable Diseases under the New Coronary Epidemic" organized by the Guangzhou Preventive Medicine Association was held in Guangzhou on the 24th.

The reporter learned from the meeting that with the approval of the National Medical Products Administration, the domestically produced EV71 vaccine with fully independent intellectual property rights has been approved to expand the applicable age range to 71 months (before 6 years of age).

According to data from the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, hand-foot-mouth disease is an infectious disease caused by enteroviruses. It mostly occurs in infants under 5 years of age. It can cause fever, rashes and ulcers on the hands, feet, and mouth. Individual patients can cause complications such as myocarditis, pulmonary edema, and aseptic meningoencephalitis.

There are more than 20 enteroviruses that cause hand, foot and mouth disease, of which Coxsackie virus A16 and enterovirus 71 are the most common.

According to Zheng Huizhen, chief expert of the immunization program of the Guangdong Preventive Medicine Association, Guangdong is a region with a high incidence of hand-foot-mouth disease and a key province for prevention and control. Children, as the main infections of hand-foot-mouth disease, have the characteristics of difficulty in effective management, complicated transmission routes, and easy infection. Therefore, when non-vaccine preventive measures are not effective, EV71 vaccine should be vaccinated to protect susceptible persons.

Zheng Huizhen further stated that the EV71 vaccination rate is low, and the immune barrier has not yet been formed, and there are still a large number of susceptible persons in the neonatal cohort.

"Although we say that hand, foot and mouth disease occurs before school age (before 6 years of age), its unfortunate deaths are often more concentrated in the infant stage before the age of 3. In this sense, prevention of severe hand, foot and mouth disease and death, The earlier the vaccination, the better.” Zheng Huizhen said. In addition, from an immunological point of view, children over three years of age are most likely to have been infected with this strain. If the child is determined to have been infected with the EV71 virus, they can no longer be vaccinated. ; If you are not sure whether your child has been infected with the EV71 virus, vaccination is still recommended.

In order to facilitate vaccination, relevant institutions have carried out joint vaccination research on domestic EV71 vaccine and multiple immunization program vaccines such as hepatitis B and group A meningococcal vaccine.

According to published research results, the immunogenicity and safety of the hand-foot-mouth disease hand-over and hepatitis B and group A meningococcal vaccines after simultaneous vaccination are no different from those of single vaccination.

At present, many provinces and cities in China have successively issued relevant documents to provide policy support for joint vaccination, promote more types of vaccination, and more comprehensively protect children's health.

Zheng Huizhen said that in addition to vaccinations, maintaining good personal hygiene is the key to preventing hand, foot and mouth disease.

Including frequent hand washing, do not let children drink raw water, do not eat raw or cold food; children's toys and frequently touched items should be cleaned and disinfected regularly; avoid close contact between children and children suffering from hand, foot and mouth disease, etc.
