Hanover (dpa / lni) - The medical practices in Lower Saxony are to receive a total of 260,000 doses of corona vaccine in the coming week.

"That is more than in April, but has now stagnated at this level for three weeks and should be increased from June," said the spokesman for the Lower Saxony Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVN), Detlef Haffke, on Monday.

According to him, the practices receive a total of 160,000 cans from the manufacturer Biontech and 100,000 cans from the manufacturer Astrazeneca.

According to Haffke, the Biontech active ingredient is mainly used for second vaccinations.

Astrazeneca, on the other hand, can mainly be used for primary vaccinations.

At Biontech an interval of six weeks is recommended between the two syringes, at Astrazeneca an interval of twelve weeks.

For vaccinations with the Astrazeneca preparation, the prioritization with a fixed priority list has now been lifted.

The doctors decide who is to vaccinate and when.

The Standing Vaccination Commission recommends its use for people aged 60 and over, as blood clots, some of them fatal, have rarely occurred in the brain in younger age groups.

For younger people, vaccination with the preparation is possible after medical advice about the risks.
