Disclosure of when Trump's social networking platform will be launched
Donald Trump's new social network, "Truth Social", takes off gradually this week and will be fully operational by next March, more than a year after the former US president was banned from using the major social media platforms.
"We will start rolling out the app to individuals on the Apple Store this week," Devin Nunez, president of the Trump Group for Media and Technology, the parent company of the new network, told Fox News.
"I think by the end of March, we will be fully operational, at least in the United States," added the former parliamentarian who left Congress earlier this year to chair the Trump group.
Donald Trump offers "Truth Social" as an alternative to the Facebook, Twitter and YouTube platforms that banned his accounts after his supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
On Sunday, the app marked "Expected for February 21 release" on mobile app download stores, and it is a holiday in the United States.
According to various press reports, the group has about $1.25 billion to compete in the crowded social networking market.
