This year's College Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) is evaluated as revealing the chronic problems of the CSAT as it overlaps not only with the difficulty of jumping, but also the failure to adjust the merits and disadvantages according to the elective subjects, and the controversy over the questions asked.

It was confirmed that this year's SAT was difficult enough that the standard score, which indicates the difference between the original score and the average of the examinee in the Korean language area, was the second highest, and the ratio of those with the highest score on the standard score was 0.01%, down significantly from last year (0.04%).

The standard score for math also increased by 10 points from last year.

In English, the rate of 1st grade was only 6%, half of last year, indicating that the purpose of absolute evaluation to prevent overheating of private education and reduce the gap between urban and rural areas was insignificant.

This ratio is 5.3% for the 2019 school year, 7.4% for the 2020 school year, and 12.7% for the 2021 school year.

I am running every year with 6.3% in the 2022 academic year.

Last year, there were 6 students with perfect scores on the CSAT, but this year, the number has decreased to just one.

This is a completely different result from the fact that the questioning committee and the Korea Curriculum Assessment Service emphasized that they maintained the 'usual year's question-and-question principle', and the teachers also showed an initial reaction that 'it is similar to last year's CSAT' after each area was completed.

Kang Tae-jung, president of the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation, announced today (9th) the results of the SAT grading for the 2022 school year and said, “If students actually felt emotionally difficult, that in itself is an important fact. I'm going to give it a try," he said.

However, Director Kang said, "The highest standard score is not only related to the difficulty." He said, "We need to check how the achievement has changed while comparing the items that can be considered the same with the previous year, but this analysis has not been done yet." He explained that he couldn't be certain.

However, it is pointed out that this year's CSAT did not sufficiently reflect the learning deficits of students who spent the exam period in an environment where it was difficult to concentrate on studying since the outbreak of Corona 19 at the beginning of last year.

According to the '2020 National-level Academic Achievement Evaluation Results,' which was conducted by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Curriculum Assessment Service in November last year to evaluate their Korean, math, and English proficiency by sampling about 3% of all middle and high school students, students' grades were It fell in all subjects compared to the previous year.

Regarding the possibility that the learning deficit caused by COVID-19 was reflected in the test scores, Director Kang said, "The impact cannot be absolutely denied.

In this year's SAT, elective subjects were introduced in the Korean language and mathematics fields, and the humanities and natural sciences students' grades were calculated together with the integration of the humanities and sciences.

As a result, the admissions companies analyzed that the disadvantages of the elective subjects that were constantly raised in the social and scientific research areas would have been more pronounced.

Besides, the difference in standard scores for each elective subject in Korean language and mathematics is not disclosed, except for the research area, so it is pointed out that confusion is inevitable when candidates set up their college admission strategy or when the university sets the admission criteria.

Jongno Academy said, "It is inevitable that problems occur between elective subjects in mathematics every year, and this seems to be a structural problem that cannot be solved by difficulty. It could be,” he analyzed.

This year, the controversy over question-application errors is adding to the confusion.

Students who took Science Research Life Science II filed a lawsuit to cancel the decision and to suspend execution, saying that there was no correct answer because there was a serious error in question 20.

If the court cites the application for suspension of execution, there is a possibility that the notice of test scores scheduled for the next day may be stopped immediately.

The controversy over question-application errors has been a problem that has not been resolved since the SAT began in 1994.

In the 2004, 2008, 2010, 2014, 2015, and 2017 academic year, there were some questions that were recognized as having multiple correct answers or were treated as 'no correct answer' as errors were recognized in the exam.

In particular, in the case of question 8 on world geography in the 2014 academic year, almost a year later, the test takers won the verdict, and the evaluator had to recalculate the test takers' scores.

Dean Kang said, "I am sorry for the controversy, and I admit that I was insufficient in my responsibility to prevent this from happening." said.
