Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced that it will add 600 megawatts of clean energy operating capacity using photovoltaic and concentrated solar panels technologies during the current year, bringing the total production capacity of the authority of clean energy to 1,613 megawatts, compared to 1,013 megawatts currently.

projects

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of the authority, said that a project with a capacity of 300 megawatts within the fifth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex will be launched next July, while in September, the highest tower of concentrated solar energy in the world will be inaugurated, with a height of 262.44. meters, with a capacity of 100 megawatts, within the fourth phase of the complex.

He added that the authority will also launch the first part of the parabolic trough inverter system with a capacity of 200 megawatts within the same phase before the end of the year, thus the authority will add 300 megawatts with photovoltaic solar panels technology and 300 megawatts with concentrated solar energy technology, as the percentage of production capacity of clean energy within the energy mix in Dubai To about 10% during next July and 12% by the end of this year.

green economy

Al Tayer stated that the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex is one of the most prominent projects implemented by DEWA to promote sustainability, innovation and the transition towards a sustainable green economy, in addition to increasing the proportion of renewable and clean energy production capacity within Dubai's energy mix within the framework of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. , which aims to provide 75% of Dubai's energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.

He stressed that since its launch, the complex has attracted wide interest from international developers, which reflects the confidence of investors from all over the world in the major projects implemented by the authority.

Promote growth

Al Tayer also stressed that the major projects implemented by the authority in cooperation with the private sector, according to the independent product model, contribute to promoting economic growth in Dubai, noting that through this model, the authority has achieved world records at the lowest prices for solar energy projects for five consecutive times. Dubai is the benchmark for solar energy prices worldwide, and the authority has attracted about 40 billion dirhams of investments.

Biggest project

In turn, the Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence Sector at DEWA, Engineer Walid Salman, said that the fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is the largest investment project in one location in the world, combining concentrated solar and energy technologies. Solar photovoltaic according to the independent product system, with a capacity of 950 megawatts, and investments of about 16 billion dirhams.

He added that this stage has the largest storage capacity of solar energy in the world for a period of 15 hours, which allows the availability of energy 24 hours a day.

world lowest price

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has obtained the lowest global price of 1.6953 US cents per kilowatt-hour for the fifth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, with a capacity of 900 megawatts, using photovoltaic solar panels.

The project uses the latest technology of two-sided photovoltaic solar panels with a single-axis solar tracking system to increase energy productivity.
