Dubai Electricity and Water Authority maintained its 100% functioning without recording any interruptions in the provision of electricity and water supplies to all residents of the Emirate of Dubai during the past months, and the authority's integrated plans for crisis management and business continuity have ensured that its services are provided in accordance with the highest standards of availability, reliability and efficiency.

The authority is considered the first service institution in the Middle East region to obtain ISO 22301 certification, which is the global standard for business continuity management. The authority has an approved plan to deal with various emergencies.

In light of the spread of the new Corona virus (Covid-19), the authority has developed its plans in line with the situation and has taken a set of precautionary measures to protect customers, employees and all those concerned, and support the state's efforts to limit the spread of the virus and ensure the continuity of its work.

In a statement issued yesterday, the authority confirmed that the authority’s institutional agility played a pivotal role in overcoming the challenges of the pandemic, in addition to the effectiveness of leadership and partnerships in the authority, strong financial solvency, technological leadership, and its advanced digital technology system.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said: “We are working according to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide an advanced infrastructure to manage facilities and services in the emirate through smart and interconnected systems that depend On the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as artificial intelligence, robotic aircraft, blockchain technology, energy storage, the Internet of things, and others, as part of the authority's vision as a global leader in sustainable and innovative.

The smart grid is an essential component of the authority’s strategy to develop an advanced infrastructure that supports the Smart Dubai initiative to transform Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world. The smart grid includes programs with investments amounting to 7 billion dirhams that will be completed in short, medium and long-term phases until 2035 » .

The wheel of work remained in full swing in all of the authority's projects, most notably the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex, which is the largest strategic project to generate renewable energy in one location in the world, according to the independent product system.

The capacity of the solar energy projects in operation in the complex is 1013 megawatts, with the total capacity of the five stages of the complex that have been announced so far to 2863 megawatts, in order to reach 5,000 megawatts by 2030. The authority has a production capacity of 11.7 thousand megawatts of electricity, and 470 One million gallons of water a day.

The electricity and water network in Dubai is strong, flexible, and able to respond and adapt to various emergency conditions and prepare to keep pace with rapid changes.

The authority uses the latest technologies in the field of production, transmission, distribution and control of electricity and water networks, to achieve continuity of field work in power plants and water desalination units, while ensuring the continuity of operation, maintenance, laboratory analyzes, and other vital matters necessary for the continuity of providing electricity and water services to all customers.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is one of the first government agencies to provide all its services through 100% smart channels, so that customers can conduct all their transactions, including notes and complaints, through the smart channels provided by the authority, including the authority's smart application and website.
