Dentists warn of the dangers of whitening toothpastes

Doctors have warned of the dangers of using some types of toothpaste, which are offered by producers as intended for teeth whitening.

Dr. Anna Charanda and dental surgeon Maxim Kopylov point out that some types of toothpastes offered by the producers, as beneficial in teeth whitening, in fact do not have this effect, in addition to that they damage the tooth enamel, and the two doctors make some recommendations regarding the correct use of these toothpastes. .

According to Dr. Charanda, the pigment responsible for the color of the teeth is not located on the surface of the teeth, but rather within the crystal lattice of the teeth.

And she continued, "The most that these pastes can offer is a slight whitening of the enamel, with the effect of active oxygen and the removal of calculus deposits accumulated on the teeth, meaning that it does not give a bright result."

"People who overuse these toothpastes can experience increased tooth sensitivity, pain and enamel erosion," said Dr. Kopylov.

Therefore, it is recommended to use it from time to time.
