Munich (dpa / lby) - According to the police, about ten people were injured in a deflagration in a Munich residential building.

A 33-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries, a spokeswoman said.

Two police officers who came to the scene of the fire in the Obergiesing district on Tuesday night were slightly injured.

Other residents also received medical care afterwards, and some were taken to hospitals.

The cause of the fire is still unclear, the police said.

The police are investigating a possible arson.

A loud bang woke several residents of the apartment building at night.

They then fled the burning house.

The fire brigade extinguished the flames and removed the toxic smoke with a ventilation device.

According to the fire brigade, the apartment in which the deflagration occurred was initially uninhabitable.
