Berlin (dpa) - The Defense Committee of the Bundestag is today dealing with the ammunition affair at the Special Forces Command (KSK) of the Bundeswehr.
Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (CDU) will also attend the meeting.
In spring 2020 there was a collection campaign for ammunition at the KSK site in Calw, in which soldiers were able to return ammunition with impunity that had previously been stolen or not returned after target practice.
The action is said to have been ordered by KSK commander Markus Kreitmayr.
As a result, investigations under civil service law as well as public prosecutorial investigations were initiated against the brigadier general.

What is explosive about the affair is that Kreitmayr is playing a key role in the reform of the KSK, which Kramp-Karrenbauer initiated last year after several right-wing extremist incidents in the elite troops.
According to a recently published interim report, 39 of the 60 reform steps have now been implemented.
The reorganization of the troops was "in fact equivalent to a realignment," said Inspector General Eberhard Zorn at the presentation of the report.
