Neuroradiologist and former Grand Master of the Grand Orient of France, Christophe Habas, died Friday evening at the age of 55 following a long illness, we learned from his family.
A mass in his memory will be organized next week in Paris, before his burial in the family vault in Gan, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
"A Masonic tribute will be paid to him during his burial," said his family.
Entering Freemasonry in 1993, Christophe Habas was elected in 2016 Grand Master of the Grand Orient of France, the main French Masonic obedience with around 50,000 members.
He held this position until the following year.
Work on the cerebellum
"He was a mason of great stature, a man of very great value and very discreet", declared to AFP his friend, the business manager Daniel Keller, who had preceded him in the function of Grand Master.
Recognized doctor, Christophe Habas was head of the neuroimaging department at the Quinze-Vingt hospital in Paris and associate professor at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
In 2021, the Academy of Medicine awarded him the Evian-Les-Bains mineral water company prize for his work on the MRI analysis of the structure and functioning of the cerebellum.
