Düsseldorf (AP) - Bundesliga relegated Fortuna Düsseldorf could seriously intervene in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga.

On Wednesday, Fortuna defeated FC St. Pauli, who were so in shape recently, 2-0 (1-0).

Felix Klaus (26th minute) and Kevin Danso (49th) shot coach Uwe Rösler's team to their third win in a row.

After 29 games, Fortuna, fourth in the table, is now only one point behind Hamburger SV, who have one more game to contend with.

Hamburg started well after four wins in a row, but Fortuna got better and better and took the lead after a great offensive action by Kristoffer Peterson.

Klaus used this by dusting, after which the Düsseldorf team determined the game.

After Danso's second goal of the season at the beginning of the second half, St. Pauli was finally signed off.

Düsseldorf can now make up ground on Saturday at SC Paderborn and in the catch-up game on May 3 against Karlsruher SC.
