28 June 2017 No revocation of the sentence imposed on Alberto Stasi for the crime of Garlasco. The first criminal section of the Cassation declared the extraordinary appeal filed by the defenders and by Stasi himself inadmissible and thus confirmed the 16 years of imprisonment that the former Bocconi student is serving in the Bollate prison for the murder of his girlfriend Chiara Poggi, killed on August 13, 2007. In the appeal, presented by Stasi's lawyers, requests were made to reopen the case, suspend the sentence and review the texts already heard in the first instance in a new appeal process.

Even the pg of the Supreme Court Roberto Aniello (who represented the Prosecutor General also in the first trial on the crime that took place in Cassation in 2013) had, in his indictment, highlighted profiles of inadmissibility of the appeal, with which Stasi highlighted a " factual error "relating to the non-admission of declaratory evidence in the appeal process-bis. At that time, after the annulment with postponement by the Supreme Court of the acquittals pronounced against Stasi in the first two judgments of merit, and after a deepening of the preliminary investigation, the first sentence for the former Bocconi student arrived , then confirmed to the Court of Cassation in 2015.

The decision of the Court of Cassation closes a long process that has seen more twists and turns: after a double acquittal, it was the Supreme Court, in April 2013, who sent the documents back to the Milanese judges asking for a rereading "overall and unitary of the elements acquired". The new evidence collected in the appeal process bis determines the sentence to 16 years for Alberto Stasi, a penalty confirmed definitively on December 12, 2015 and which bring him behind the bars of the Milanese prison of Bollate. Against him a mosaic of evidence: the prints on the soap dispenser in the Poggi bathroom, the DNA found on the pedals of the seized bicycle, an alibi that does not eliminate him from the crime scene ", the impossibility of not getting his shoes dirty on the floor of Poggi house and, "like the murderer, he wears shoes number 42". The recent attempt by Stasi's defense to 'reopen' the process by pointing the finger at a new suspect: the elements told against Andrea Sample prove inconsistent and the position is useless of the young man from Garlasco is archived. After the 'rejection' by the Cassation today, Stasi remains in prison.
