According to a media report, the federal government has for the first time quantified the total expenditure for the corona vaccines it has procured.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, as of June 2, the government has spent around 6.8 billion euros on Covid 19 vaccines, reports the “RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland” (RND) on Sunday in advance, citing a parliamentary question from the CSU health politician Stephan Pilsinger (CSU ).

Together with the vaccine costs, it is now possible to quantify the total expenditure the pandemic has caused in the healthcare sector since it began in spring 2020.

According to information from the Federal Social Security Office, which is available to the RND, a total of 46.4 billion euros was spent by the end of June for the reimbursement of vaccinations, vaccination centers, citizen and PCR tests, protective masks, compensation payments for hospitals and corona drugs.

Together with the vaccines, this results in a total of 53.2 billion euros.
