The Covid-19 epidemic has killed 18 people since Wednesday in hospitals, according to the daily report of the Directorate General of Health (DGS). This brings the total number of deaths to 30,138 since the start of the crisis in France.

The death toll in hospitals reached 19,597 and the decline in the number of patients with severe form in intensive care continues very slightly, with 481 patients, one less since Wednesday.

Total number of hospitalizations down

A total of 6,796 people are currently hospitalized for Covid-19 infection, a figure that continues to drop despite 119 new admissions recorded in twenty-four hours.

A slight increase in the number of hospitalizations is recorded over a week in 16 departments, while the authorities are increasing the warnings about a possible resurgence of the epidemic.

The next update of the figures for social and medico-social establishments, where the death toll reaches 10,541 dead, is expected on Tuesday July 21.

Four regions account for 71% of patients hospitalized in intensive care: Ile-de-France, Grand-Est, Hauts-de-France and Guyana. In the latter region, "the circulation of the virus remains a concern," said the DGS in its press release.
