New assessments, new measures, highlights: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic around the world.

- Imbroglio in Lleida -

Spanish justice suspended Monday the home reconfiguration of the inhabitants of the Lleida zone in Catalonia (North-East), considering that these measures taken Sunday by the regional government were "against the law".

This center of contagion, populated by nearly 200,000 people and located about 150 km from Barcelona, ​​is one of the most concerned in the country.

- Tangier and Manila are reconfigured -

In Morocco, the city of Tangier (North) populated by around one million inhabitants has been reconfigured since Monday noon (11:00 GMT) after the appearance of epidemic foci.

In Manila, the 250,000 inhabitants of Navotas, one of the 16 cities that make up the sprawling capital of the Philippines, will again be confined to their homes for two weeks in the coming days.

- Latin America, second in number of deaths -

The Latin America and Caribbean region on Monday became the second region most affected in the world by the pandemic of the new coronavirus in death toll, with some 145,000 deaths officially recorded, according to an AFP count.

The region has thus exceeded the balance sheets of the United States and Canada, and is behind Europe which had more than 200.00 deaths Monday morning.

The pandemic has killed at least 569,135 people worldwide, according to an AFP report from official sources Monday at 11:00 GMT.

The United States is the most affected country, with 135,205 deaths. Follow Brazil with 72,100 deaths, the United Kingdom (44,819), Mexico (35,006) and Italy (34,954).

Several videos have shown dozens of German or British tourists, sometimes drunk, noisily partying in the streets of Mallorca, without wearing a mask or respecting a precautionary distance.

- The call of the super rich -

A group of 83 millionaires including the co-founder of the American ice cream giant Ben & Jerry's, Jerry Greenfield, or the British director Richard Curtis, called on Monday to tax the richest people on the planet more "immediately" and "permanently", in order to contribute to the recovery from the crisis generated by the pandemic of new coronavirus.

"As Covid-19 hits the world, millionaires like us have an essential role to play in healing the world," the group, dubbed "Millionaires for Humanity," wrote in an open letter.
