Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) wants to let the epidemic emergency of national scope expire at the end of November.

A ministry spokesman confirmed a corresponding report by the Bild newspaper on Monday at the request of the AFP news agency.

Accordingly, Spahn said before the Conference of Health Ministers (GMK) of the federal states: "The Robert Koch Institute classifies the risk for vaccinated people as moderate." Thus, given the current vaccination quota, the epidemic situation of national scope could expire on November 25, 2021.

"This will end a state of emergency that has existed since March 28, 2020 and therefore for almost 19 months," said Spahn.

The epidemic situation of national scope is the basis for measures by the countries in the corona pandemic.

In order for them to continue to apply, the Bundestag would have to actively resolve this.

This would probably be the task of the new Bundestag, which will be constituted in the coming week.

New infections have recently increased again

Most recently, at the end of August, the Bundestag decided that the emergency situation would continue to apply for a further three months.

However, Spahn insists that 3G and AHA hygiene rules in the interior are “still absolutely necessary”.

"So we are coming from the state of emergency into a state of special caution," he said.

From today's perspective, normal conditions will only be possible in the spring of next year.

The seven-day incidence in Germany is currently rising again. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Monday morning as 74.4. For comparison: the previous day the value was 72.7, a week ago it was 66.5. The health authorities in Germany reported 4056 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard from 4:07 a.m. on Monday morning. A week ago, the RKI reported 3111 infections. The incidence has been rising again for six days now.

According to the new information, ten deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were seven deaths.

The RKI has counted 4,377,845 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days - the most important parameter for a possible tightening of the corona restrictions - was given by the RKI on Friday as 2.02 (Thursday 1.93).

A nationwide threshold, from when the situation can be viewed critically, is not provided for the incidence of hospitalization, among other things because of large regional differences.

The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas time.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 4,155,000.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 94,628.

Influenza vaccination is especially important this fall

According to experts, vaccination against flu this fall is particularly important for pregnant women. After the quasi-failed wave last season, more sick people can be expected again this year, said Cornelia Hösemann from the board of the professional association of gynecologists of the German press agency. “Because the immune system has to be trained again first. In addition, with 2 or 3G regulations, the obligation to wear the mask is no longer necessary, so that infections that are spread via droplets will generally occur more again Want to wear mouth and nose protection.

According to the doctor, who is also a member of the Saxon Vaccination Commission (Siko), pregnant women are particularly at risk if they become infected with certain pathogens: "A real influenza during pregnancy can be life-threatening." The professional association also speaks of possible stronger fever attacks and severe pneumonia caused by the flu virus as well as hospital and intensive care admissions.

With severe febrile infections, the risk of premature labor and premature birth generally increases, it said.
