Born in Chamalières, Auvergne, in 1936, Claude Giraud was first a theater actor, his first passion, and even a member of the Comédie-Française.

In the cinema, after his debut with Marcel Carné in

), but it was above all his role as Philippe de Plessis-Bellières, lover of Angélique, marquise des Anges who made him known to the General public.
