The Church of Sweden is located in the French city of Cagnes-sur-Mer on the Riviera.

Pastor Hans Rhodin has received many anxious calls during the day from people in Sweden.

- We are not located in Nice but about 30 minutes away, says Hans Rhodin.

"We who believe in God shall not fight"

The situation has been tense in France since the murder of teacher Samuel Paty.

The town hall and the mayor's office in Cagnes-sur-Mer have had stronger surveillance for some time.

- We have been prepared for something to happen.

Rhodin himself, together with leaders in Christianity, Judaism and Islam, has signed a joint religious letter against violence.

- We who believe in god should not fight with each other.

It's awful, he says.

France in month-long lockdown

Receiving Swedes who are in France and who may need support after the attack in Nice, on the other hand, becomes difficult due to nationwide corona restrictions that come into force at midnight.

- Tonight we close the house.

It's a lockdown so we can not receive anyone.

No one is allowed to go out either, says Hans Rhodin.
