Christophe, his wife Véronique and their daughter in Marrakech, in the 80s - BLONDIN / SIPA

In full confinement, the singer Christophe disappeared on April 16 at the age of 74, and we still remember these images of neighbors singing on their balcony to pay tribute to him. A few days earlier, the interpreter of Mots Bleus had been hospitalized for "respiratory failure", then died of "emphysema", a pulmonary disease.

When announcing Christophe's death to Agence France-Presse, his wife Véronique Bevilacqua (from whom he was separated, but not divorced) did not mention the coronavirus in his press release. A decision that had surprised fans of the singer, which some media claimed that he had tested positive for Covid-19 at the time of his hospitalization.

An auction organized by his widow and daughter

Behind the press release was however no attempt to conceal, as confided by Christophe's widow at RTL's microphone. "I never wanted to hide the Covid, I just didn't know it," she said. When he arrived at the hospital, it was for his emphysema crisis which was quite significant. That's what was a little bit painful, because his lungs were badly attacked. "

Soon, an auction of Christophe's objects will be organized by Véronique Bevilacqua and her daughter Lucie. The artist was a great collector and had collected lots of objects in his apartment on the boulevard Montparnasse in Paris. Fans and amateurs will therefore be able to get cameras, old books, paintings or even musical instruments.
