It's not really a surprise.
But the news is still likely to disappoint many people.
Due to the health context, the city of Rennes has decided to drastically reduce the activities planned for Christmas in order to limit gatherings in public spaces.
As in almost all cities, the Christmas markets which are usually held on the Mitterrand mall and on the dalle du Colombier will not take place.

The same will be true for the funfair which takes place each year on the Esplanade de Gaulle as well as for the designer market.
The projection show on the facade of the Town Hall as well as the fireworks show and the New Year's dance party are also canceled.
The illuminations lit on November 30
To save the magic of Christmas, the city still maintains its illuminations which will be lit from November 30 to January 3.
A giant decorated and illuminated tree will also take place on Parliament Square and 40 trees will be installed in the districts.
The city also announces a lighting of the Parliament each evening as well as a pyrotechnic show which will be proposed each day on the town hall square from December 18 to January 3.
