China News Agency, Geneva, March 22. The 49th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council held a dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on minority issues on the 22nd. The Chinese representative made a statement urging the United States to effectively protect the rights of minority groups.

The representative of China pointed out that the United States systematically deprived Indians of various rights and basic freedoms through massacres, expulsions, forced assimilation and other means in history, attempted to physically and culturally eliminate this group, and committed genocide.

To this day, systemic and structural racism and racial discrimination still exist in the United States. The rights of Africans and people of African descent, Asians and Asians, Muslims, Indians and other minorities have been seriously violated, and they have frequently become the cause of police violence and law enforcement. Victims of hate crimes are marginalized in political, economic, cultural and other fields, and the unemployment rate, poverty rate, hospitalization rate and death rate of American minorities during the new crown pneumonia epidemic are much higher than those of white people.

The representative of China said that China urges the US government to take historical responsibilities, face up to its own human rights issues, eradicate systemic racism and the persistent ailments of "white supremacy", and earnestly protect the rights of minorities. The UN Human Rights Council and the Special Rapporteur on minority issues should continue to pay attention Minority rights violations in the United States.
