She noted that China has seen Russia's reaction to the new sanctions planned by the United States.

"China is strongly opposed to Washington, under the pretext of protecting human rights, applied unilateral sanctions," TASS quoted her as saying.

Earlier, members of the US House of Representatives Rules Committee approved an amendment to the defense budget for the next fiscal year, which recommends the country's administration to consider the possibility of sanctions against Russian businessmen, journalists and politicians.

The Kremlin said that the imposition of sanctions on the recommendation of US congressmen would deal a crushing blow to "the spirit and atmosphere of Geneva."

It was also noted that Russia would respond wisely in the event of new US sanctions.
