China News Service, Beijing, September 17 (Zhou Rui, Li Anqi) Qin Yuyun, Director of the Grain Reserve Department of the State Administration of Grain and Material Reserves of China, said on the 17th that China’s food security situation is generally improving, grain production capacity has steadily increased, inventories remain high, and regulatory mechanisms Continue to improve, and the ability to guarantee food security continues to increase.

He emphasized that especially in the context of this year's grain harvest, the material foundation for ensuring a stable supply of the market has been further consolidated.

Up to now, the government has sold a total of about 50 million tons of policy grain through the national grain trading platform, which has effectively met the grain demand of enterprises. The domestic grain market has always maintained a good situation with sufficient supply and stable operation.

First of all, China has an abundant supply of ration varieties.

According to survey data from relevant state departments, in recent years, the output of the two major rations of wheat and rice has increased steadily, and the balance of wheat production and demand has been slightly surplus, and the annual surplus of rice is about 30 billion catties.

The stocks of wheat and rice are maintained at a relatively high level, and the market supply is fully guaranteed.

Secondly, the corn market supply has increased.

Qin Yuyun revealed that China's corn production, import, and feed substitutes will increase at the same time this year.

From the perspective of production, all aspects of corn production are expected to increase steadily.

From the perspective of imports, according to customs statistics, from January to July imported corn and substitutes were 68.4 billion jin, an increase of 44.5 billion jin over the same period last year.

In the future, a considerable amount of imported grain will continue to arrive in Hong Kong.

In terms of inventory, companies have increased their awareness of operating risks and actively controlled grain sources. At the end of August, corn commodity inventories increased by 15% year-on-year.

Qin Yuyun pointed out that from an international perspective, global corn production continues to exceed demand, and market supply is loose.

According to the US Department of Agriculture in September, US corn production will be the second-highest in history. Global corn production and inventories have been raised at the same time. They are expected to increase by 7% and 4% year-on-year respectively. The international market supply will be more stable.

At the same time, the consumption of wheat and rice for feed has increased, forming a certain substitution relationship for corn.

Comprehensive analysis shows that the domestic corn market supply is generally fully guaranteed.

Third, the domestic soybean market is relatively good.

Qin Yuyun said that domestic soybeans have high protein content and good quality and are mainly used for food, while imported soybeans are mainly used for oil extraction and feed processing.

Since the second half of last year, domestic soybeans have gone out of an independent market that is different from imported soybeans. "This is what we have always hoped to see, and this trend is expected to continue this year."
