In May, China's automobile production and sales reached 2.187 million and 2.194 million, respectively, an increase of 4.0% and 5.9% month-on-month, an increase of 18.2% and 14.5% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 15.9 percentage points and 10.1 percentage points higher than last month.
From January to May, China's automobile production and sales were 7.787 million and 7.957 million, down 24.1% and 22.6% year-on-year. Compared with January to April, the declines were narrowed by 9.3 percentage points and 8.5 percentage points, respectively.
It is worth mentioning that in May, the production and sales of passenger cars increased by 4.5% and 8.9% month-on-month, and increased by 11.2% and 7.0% year-on-year. Among the main types of passenger cars, compared with last month, the output of cross-type passenger cars decreased slightly, and the sales volume increased slightly. The production and sales of other three types of passenger cars increased, including multi-purpose passenger cars (MPV). The growth rate is more obvious.
In May, the production and sales of new energy vehicles continued the growth momentum of the previous month, and the sales growth rate was more obvious. In May, the production and sales of new energy vehicles increased by 3.5% and 12.2% sequentially.
From January to May, the production and sales of new energy vehicles decreased by 39.7% and 38.7% year-on-year, respectively, and the decline was narrowed by 5.1 percentage points and 4.7 percentage points from January to April. Among the main varieties of new energy vehicles, the decline in production and sales of pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles has narrowed compared with the same period from January to April.
From January to May, the top ten companies (groups) in automobile sales sold 7.089 million vehicles, accounting for 89.1% of total automobile sales.
