China News Service, Xi’an, October 19th (Reporter Zhang Yichen) The 3.5-meter diameter, 500-ton thrust integral solid rocket engine independently developed by the Fourth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the Fourth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology) has a ground thermal test run in Xi’an on the 19th. A complete success.

According to reports, the engine adopts a number of advanced technologies such as a high-pressure overall design, a high-performance fiber composite material shell, a high-loading integrally cast-formed combustion chamber, and an oversized nozzle. The overall performance of the engine has reached the world's leading level.

In 2009, the Fourth Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics took the lead in successfully developing a diameter of 2 meters and a thrust of 120 tons. At that time, China's largest monolithic solid rocket engine became an important milestone for China's solid power to enter the field of aerospace.

In 2019, the Fourth Aerospace Academy independently developed an integral solid engine with a diameter of 2.6 meters and a thrust of 200 tons, which further improved China's aerospace solid power carrying capacity.

The Fourth Academy of Aerospace Engineering stated that the success of this experiment has opened up the key technical link for the development of China's thousand-ton thrust solid engine, marking the substantial increase in China's solid carrying capacity, which is important for promoting the development of large and heavy launch vehicle technology in the future. significance.

"Before the test, we carried out a lot of research and conquered some individual technologies. Today, through the test, we focused on the assessment of the integration of multiple key technologies." The successful development fills the domestic gap and at the same time brings China's solid engine technology to a new level.

At present, based on the 500-ton thrust monolithic solid engine, the Fourth Aerospace Academy is already conducting research on the 3.5-meter-diameter segmented engine. The engine is divided into 5 segments, and the maximum thrust will reach more than 1,000 tons. It can be applied to solid-assisted large and heavy launch vehicles. In the thruster, it can meet the needs of China's space equipment, manned moon landing, deep space exploration and other space activities.
