Eight major equipment manufacturing towns in the Chengdu-Chongqing region, Chengdu, Deyang, and Meishan, Sichuan , Ziyang City, Yubei District, Jiangbei District, Jiangjin District, and Yongchuan District of Chongqing City, jointly issued a declaration of cooperation to jointly promote the high-quality development of the equipment manufacturing industry.
The cooperation between Chengdu and Chongqing in the equipment manufacturing industry is the epitome of the close cooperation between Sichuan and Chongqing in the field of economy and information technology.

In Sichuan, the R&D and manufacturing of high-end equipment such as aviation equipment, rail transit, intelligent manufacturing, energy saving and environmental protection in Chengdu ranks first in the country; Deyang is one of the country’s three major power equipment manufacturing bases, with a number of leading enterprises and innovation platforms; Meishan is the country’s largest transmission Production base for parts, small compressors and woodworking machine tools; Ziyang is the country's largest export diesel locomotive research and development base, new energy locomotives and shunting locomotives research and development base.
In Chongqing, Yubei's automobile, modern transportation equipment, and intelligent equipment manufacturing has accelerated its growth; Jiangbei has a complete industrial chain of automobile R&D and manufacturing; Jiangjin's gearboxes, reducers, internal combustion engines and other products are leading the industry; Yongchuan is the country's largest mid-to-high-end pickup production base .
From the perspective of industry insiders, the equipment manufacturing industry is the "backbone" of the manufacturing industry, and its coordinated development is of great significance to the development of western China.
Data shows that the total scale of equipment manufacturing in Sichuan and Chongqing will exceed 1.4 trillion yuan in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 5%, but there is still a significant gap compared with Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other provinces.
