A gynecologist from Châlons-en-Champagne suspected of rape or sexual assault on at least five patients has been indicted and placed under judicial control.

"He was indicted in early May for sexual assault by a person in authority and rape by a person in authority", which constitutes an aggravating circumstance, the public prosecutor of Châlons-en-Champagne, Ombeline, told AFP. Mahuzier, confirming information from the newspaper L'Union.

A first complaint in 2019

A first complaint, filed in 2019, had been dismissed, the investigation having failed to corroborate the facts, she detailed.

"A year later, a second patient also filed a complaint" and the new investigation this time identified five potential victims of this gynecologist, presented as an "experienced professional".

During the investigation, the Council of the order sent "a report indicating that a certain number of doctors had received complaints from patients" concerning this practitioner, specified Ombeline Mahuzier.

Faced with these accusations, the man no longer has a license to practice and cannot leave the territory either while the investigation continues, explains France 3 Grand Est.
