Steve Carell and Seth Rogen are some of the names on the Twitter campaign to raise money for the nonprofit Minnesota Freedom Fund. According to the organization's website, they pay the bail for those who cannot afford it while working to abolish the bail system.

On Twitter, thousands share requests to donate to the organization to help those arrested in connection with the demonstrations in Minneapolis, among others.

"We are amazed at all the support we are getting right now," the Minnesota Freedom Fund writes on its website.

In at least 20 cities around the United States, protests have erupted in police violence against the African-American population after a black man, George Floyd, died when a policeman pressed his knee to his neck. The incident was captured on film and the video hears how George Floyd appeals to the police that he cannot breathe.
