Cécile Rap-Veber becomes the first woman to take the direction of Sacem (Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers) since its creation in 1851, the institution said on Friday.

The one who was until now Director of Development, International and Operations, succeeds Jean-Noël Tronc who has headed Sacem since 2012.

At Sacem, the latter's departure is essentially explained by differences of view on strategy and governance with the board of directors.

Within Sacem, which she joined in 2013, Cécile Rap-Veber has notably "contributed to new developments by piloting global partnerships with major platforms", one can read in a press release.

The rights of more than 180,000 authors

“Coming from a family of creators, and having constantly defended the interests of rights holders throughout my professional career, I am honored to continue to carry the values of collective management in the service of a repertoire as magnificent as that de la Sacem ”, comments Cécile Rap-Veber in this text.

Lawyer at the Paris Court of Appeal, she set foot in the music industry when she joined Universal Music France in 2000 where she held various positions (legal department and consulting to summarize) until 2013.
