In connection with the federal election, the police registered more than 3,400 attacks on election posters nationwide.
According to preliminary figures from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), the AfD posters were removed, destroyed or damaged by far the most frequently.
According to a response from the Federal Ministry of the Interior to a question from AfD MP Martin Hess, between the beginning of the year and the end of September 1355 criminal offenses in connection with the federal election were recorded against AfD posters.
The Greens were affected in 637 cases, and 466 attacks were directed against election posters from the CDU or CSU. Posters by the SPD and the Left were somewhat less likely to be the target of attacks (around 225 times each). 118 attacks were directed against FDP posters. Posters from parties that are not currently represented in the Bundestag have also been removed or destroyed. It should be noted, however, that the number of posters that were hung up or put up during the election campaign differs from party to party.
According to the information, the police were able to assign a good half of the attacks on AfD posters to people from the left spectrum.
In the case of the crimes that were directed against posters from the CDU and CSU, the background could only be determined in rare cases - right and left attackers were roughly in balance.
The right-wing attacks on election posters recorded by the police were therefore at the expense of the Left Party and the Greens.
