For Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, members of the Royal Family will be sent across the UK to celebrate this historic event.

Buckingham Palace has announced that Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, will visit their subjects in Wales, while Princess Anne will visit Scotland.

Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, will go to Northern Ireland.

“Over the central weekend, members of the Royal Family will visit the nations of the United Kingdom to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.

Members of the Royal Family will participate in engagements in each nation, including public events marking the occasion,” reads a statement from the palace.

Forced rest

During her previous Golden and Diamond Jubilees, the Queen and her husband, Prince Philip, traveled themselves to meet their subjects, but at 96, and now a widow, the monarch is confined to tasks less exhausting.

Since contracting covid, Prince Charles' mother has essentially been staying at Windsor Castle, where she has lived since the pandemic began.

The first events of Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee will start on June 2, with a grand parade.

For the moment, nothing has been confirmed, neither on the dates, nor on the specific events in which the four members of the royal family will participate.

Two certainties however on the course of the festivities: neither prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, nor prince Andrew will be present on the balcony of Buckingham on which the royal family will meet at the end of the jubilee.
