British Prime Minister Johnson announces his resignation
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his resignation on Thursday, responding to calls from government members and members of the House of Commons from the Conservative Party.
"The process of choosing a new leader has to start now," Johnson told Cabinet.
"Today I appointed an acting government and I will continue my work until a new leader is elected," he added.
