China News Agency, Beijing, June 24. The 14th BRICS Summit was held from June 23 to 24 and issued the Beijing Declaration.
The declaration said that major developed countries are urged to adopt responsible economic policies, well control the spillover effects of policies, and avoid serious impacts on developing countries.
The declaration states, reaffirms its commitment to multilateralism, upholds international law, including the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations as its indispensable cornerstone, and upholds the central role of the United Nations in the international system in which sovereign states cooperate to maintain peace and security, promote sustainable development, promote and protect democracy, human rights and fundamental freedoms for all, and strengthen cooperation based on mutual respect, justice and equality.
The declaration emphasizes that strengthening and reforming the multilateral system should make global governance more inclusive, representative and participatory in order to facilitate deeper and more meaningful participation of developing countries and least developed countries, especially African countries, in global decision-making processes and architecture, and bring global governance more in line with contemporary realities.
The declaration pointed out that it reiterated its call for reform of the main organs of the United Nations.
Committed to injecting new vitality into discussions related to the reform of the UN Security Council, continuing efforts to revitalize the UN General Assembly, and strengthening the UN Economic and Social Council.
China and Russia reaffirmed their importance to the status and role of Brazil, India and South Africa in international affairs, and supported their desire to play a greater role in the United Nations.
The Declaration reaffirms that States should cooperate in the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms based on the principles of equality and mutual respect.
Agree to continue to give equal attention to and treat all human rights, including the right to development, in a fair and equal manner.
Agree to strengthen cooperation on issues of common concern under multilateral frameworks such as the BRICS, the UN General Assembly and the Human Rights Council, and believe that it is necessary to promote, protect and realize human rights in all countries in a non-selective, non-political and constructive way, and avoid double standards.
The declaration emphasized that global economic governance is crucial for countries to ensure sustainable development, and further recalled support for emerging markets and developing countries to expand and increase their participation in international economic decision-making and rule-making processes.
Reiterated support for the G20 to play a leading role in global economic governance, and stressed that the G20 should remain intact and respond to current global challenges.
He called on the international community to strengthen partnership, and stressed that to push the world economy out of the crisis and achieve a strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive post-pandemic economic recovery, macro policy coordination must be strengthened.
