What makes an Irish writer want to write a novel about a German writer?
The Irish writer is called Colm Tóibín.
With his novel "The Master" about the late years of Henry James he was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2004, and he has also repeatedly examined the biographies of other famous authors in essays.
Now he has planned a whole life for his new novel “The Magician”, namely that of Thomas Mann.
