Bolshunov did not take part in any of the Roller Ski World Championships.
The head of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Federation, Elena Vyalbe, said that Bolshunov's gums became inflamed.
The world roller skiing championship took place from 16 to 19 September in Val di Fiemme, Italy.
Earlier it was reported that Denis Spitsov won bronze in the first race of the World Cup in roller skiing.
