Bochum (AP) - Hundreds of fans of the second division soccer club VfL Bochum celebrated in front of the stadium after the front-runner's 5: 1 against Jahn Regensburg.

Numerous fans of the Revierclub drove their cars honking their horns across Castroper Strasse in front of the Ruhrstadion.

Other fans, some with jerseys and flags, stood in the street and were happy about the success on Sunday afternoon, which means that VfL is about to return to the Bundesliga.

The police were also on site and observed what was happening in summer temperatures.

After the final whistle, firecrackers could also be heard.

During the game, fans honked at the Bochum gates in front of the stadium.

Bochum has been in the second division for eleven years.

With the win against Regensburg, the Revierclub secured at least participation in the relegation.

If Bochum wins one of its remaining two games of the season, the Bundesliga return after eleven years in the second division will be perfect.

Two draws would certainly be enough.

It would be VfL's seventh ascent.
