Opening ceremony Xu Haifeng was once the "king"

The graduate champion class of Beijing Sport University was founded in 2003.

In March of that year, the Ministry of Education approved Beijing Sport University to recruit some outstanding athletes and coaches nationwide to study for masters in sports. The championship class soon ushered in the first batch of students of the 2003 class, including the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games men’s 10-meter platform champion Sun Shuwei, there are also short track speed skating world champions such as Li Jiajun and Wang Chunlu.

The 2004 championship class can be described as star-studded. Zhang Yining, Qiao Hong, Chen Zhong, Qian Hong, Xing Huina, Zhan Xugang, Zhang Guozheng and other Olympic champions are all on the list. There are also famous players such as Chen Ying, Li Na and Zhang Xiangxiang who later became Olympic champions. .

In 2005, with the participation of Olympic champions such as Xu Haifeng, Huang Xu, Meng Guanliang, Wang Liping, and Yang Hao, the lineup of the championship class became more and more luxurious.

In November 2005, Beijing Sport University’s graduate champion class held an extraordinary opening ceremony. 54 Olympic champions, world champions and gold coaches from the graduate school made their appearance together, including 14 Olympic champions. These 54 special students used playing cards to form different series.

Zhang Yining got the "Q of spades", Xing Huina was the "J of spades", Zhang Guozheng was the "10 of spades", and the "Xiao Wang" belonged to Zhou Jihong, the then Chinese diving team leader, who was actually a 2001 graduate student at Beijing Sports University. At that time, he was also assigned to the title of the championship class. The winner of the "big king" did not have any suspense, and belonged to China's first Olympic gold medalist Xu Haifeng.

At that time, Xu Haifeng was 48 years old. When talking about the idea of joining the championship class, he bluntly said "learning knowledge", "In the past, we were engaged in training, so we lost a lot of time and didn't have time to study. Now we have a little time to learn more knowledge. We are competing. There is a lot of actual combat experience on the project, but there are a lot of theoretical things, and there is no way to sum up it entirely on one's own actual combat experience."

Combination of centralized teaching and online learning

Since the establishment of the championship class, the enrollment target has been very clear. It must be the individual champion and the collective champion in the recent two to three Olympic Games, World Championships and World Cup (the latter two must be consistent with the Olympic events) Athletes (major players in collective events), as individual coaches and coaches of the above-mentioned champion team members, and have a college degree or above recognized by the state.

Athletes and coaches who are interested in enrolling should submit an application in person, and with the approval of their unit, report to the provincial sports bureau and the National Sports General Administration Project Management Center to review their qualifications and teaching qualifications, and provide relevant certificates.

The admission application, relevant certificates and academic certificates must be reported to the Graduate Admissions Office of Beijing Sport University, and those who pass the preliminary examination will go to Beijing Sport University for an interview.

  ■ Dialogue

  Olympic champion Qian Hong

The opportunity to study is rare, and the experience is necessary

In the 1992 Olympics, Qian Hong won the women's 100-meter butterfly championship. He was China's first women's butterfly Olympic champion. He was also the first "butterfly queen" before Zhang Yufei, Jiao Liuyang and Liu Zige.

After retiring, Qian Hong has been engaged in the promotion and popularization of youth swimming training, and also went to the graduate championship class of Beijing Sport University.

Beijing News: Are there many learning opportunities during the athlete period?

How did you think of applying for the championship class after retiring?

Qian Hong: Before retiring, we were training and studying. I was a student of Hebei Institute of Physical Education. After training, a teacher would teach us at the Training Bureau of the State Administration of Sports.

After retiring, the athletes at that time were either coaches, or entrepreneurs, going to the sea and doing business. The chances of going to university were actually very few. So I am very grateful to the leaders of the University of Beijing at that time for giving us the opportunity to study.

Beijing News: Was the application process smooth?

Does the championship class have high academic requirements?

Qian Hong: The application requires a lot of materials and certifications, an interview, and a recommendation from the State Sports General Administration.

My major is sports training. Every semester I have a fixed time for intensive teaching, including English. The requirements are quite high, and the graduation thesis must be passed.

Beijing News: Does the experience of studying in the champion class help you to work in the future?

Qian Hong: I personally think it's a great help, especially after entering that environment, everyone's identities have changed. In the past, the athletes were teammates, but they became classmates and alumni in school.

The purpose at that time was to gain knowledge and effectively combine the professional knowledge accumulated when we were athletes with the knowledge of the school.

Beijing News: More and more athletes realize the importance of learning. What do you want to say to them who are studying?

Qian Hong: Athletes have experienced unknown hardships in their careers, and it is not very difficult to adapt to the campus.

Of course, the hardship that athletes endure on campus is not the same. It is more in terms of brain power. As long as you work hard, I believe everyone can persevere.

Beijing News: After graduating from the championship class, what kind of work do you mainly engage in?

Qian Hong: It is mainly about the promotion and popularization of swimming training, focusing on young people, and will also participate in popularizing professional sports training knowledge. There are also activities organized by the Alumni Association of Beijing Sports University, such as charity summer camps, charity evenings, etc., to encourage more people People participate in sports.

  Paralympic champion Gao Fangxia

Compared with the pressure of studying, I feel that I have gained more

Not long ago, Gao Fangxia participated in the Tokyo Paralympic archery competition, as the 2008 Paralympic archery women's team champion, individual runner-up and 2012 Paralympic archery women's team runner-up, this is her third appearance in the Paralympics. Although he failed to stand on the podium again, Gao Fangxia was already very satisfied to have the opportunity to compete when he was about to turn 40.

In the past Paralympic cycle, Gao Fangxia became a student of the 2016 Paralympic Championship Class of Beijing Sport University and graduated successfully last year.

Beijing News: What is the training model of the Paralympic Champions Class?

Was this study experience going well?

Gao Fangxia: The North Sports University and the China Disabled I will go to Beijing University of Physical Education to participate in some campus activities.

Beijing News: For disabled athletes, is the university campus experience very valuable?

Gao Fangxia: Indeed, we will participate in social practice and voluntary activities as students of the Paralympic champion class, which greatly enriches our horizons. We will also communicate and have fun with the students of Beijing University of Sport.

Every time there is an activity, the students are very enthusiastic, because we have athletes in wheelchairs, and many students carry wheelchairs up the stairs. This feeling is really good.

Beijing News: From your personal point of view, is there a lot of academic pressure on the Paralympic Championships?

Gao Fangxia: I was a sports training major at the time. I had an undergraduate course for 4 years. I had an exam every semester and I had to pass the score.

You must also write your graduation thesis and conduct a thesis defense.

My graduation thesis is about archery for the disabled. After a few years of courses, I feel that my perception and cognition of training competitions coincides with what the teacher said.

Compared with pressure, I think I have gained more.

Beijing News: How do you plan for the future?

How will the experience of studying will help you in your life after retirement?

Gao Fangxia: Next, I will go to Shaanxi to participate in the National Games for the Disabled. The future plans need to be considered.

No matter what industry I will work in in the future, whether it is a coach or an entrepreneur, as long as I can apply what I have learned in the championship class and give back to more people, it is a very rare thing for me.
