The Bundestag voted on Thursday for a reform of the Infection Protection Act in order to continue to make corona protective measures possible. In return, the previous corona emergency will not be extended and will expire on November 25th. 688 MPs took part in the roll-call vote. 398 parliamentarians voted for the new regulation, 254 were against. There were 36 abstentions. The three traffic light parties SPD, Greens and FDP had campaigned for the draft law, the Union parliamentary group opposed it and campaigned for the corona emergency to be extended. The Federal Council still has to give its approval, but the Union threatens to reject it.

The reform of the Infection Protection Act will replace the old rules with a catalog of measures that is identical to the old rules in many respects.

This applies, for example, to the mask requirement, distance requirements and hygiene concepts.

The new catalog also contains additional regulations.

Comprehensive closures and bans are excluded in the future.

One of the innovations is the

3-G rule in the workplace

.

Anyone who comes into contact with people at work must be vaccinated, recovered, or be tested daily.

Employees who refuse have to work from home or be deployed elsewhere.

In general, home office is again

mandatory

.

Wherever the employer and the employees can, work from home should be carried out.

In

nursing and old people's homes

as well as in facilities for the disabled and health facilities, a test is mandatory for visitors and staff. However, no daily tests are required. The 3-G rule also applies to

local and long-distance traffic

as well as domestic German

air traffic

and should be checked on a random basis.

The federal states decide which rules to

issue

for participation in

public life

- almost all of them already stipulate 2G in whole or in part, i.e. access only for those who have recovered and who have been vaccinated. In countries with low infection rates such as Bremen,

2-G rules come

into force when the incidence is higher. The federal states can still impose contact restrictions in public and private spaces. Saxony is currently doing this. Regulations based on the legal basis that was still in force until November 25, will remain in force until December 15, according to the changes made after the expiry of the Corona emergency.

The federal states can continue to cancel individual events and close leisure facilities in individual cases.

In the future, as a protective measure against the spread of the coronavirus, you will no longer be able to impose travel bans, curfews, nationwide business closings or a ban on accommodation.

Doing sport may not be banned, but individual sporting events can.

Schools and daycare centers should be kept open - they may only be closed in individual cases in the event of corona outbreaks.

Corona measures must be checked for their effects on children and young people.

Church services and demonstrations may not be prohibited in general.

The

penalties

for falsifying proof of vaccination and the use of false evidence be tightened.
