The territory of Saint-Malo is not the sector of Brittany where the coronavirus epidemic is experiencing its strongest resurgence.

But as in the whole region, the circulation of Covid-19 tends to accelerate.

While the school holidays push a few lucky people to take advantage of the coastline of the very touristy Emerald Coast, the prefect has preferred to take some restrictions, in order to fight against the spread.

From this Wednesday evening, the bars of Saint-Malo and four towns located around it (Cancale, Dinard, Saint-Lunaire and Saint-Briac-sur-Mer) must lower the curtain at 11 p.m., at least until the 2nd November, the end of the holidays.

In a letter dated October 16, the director of the Regional Health Agency Stéphane Mulliez mentioned “a regular increase in the incidence rate” on the territory of the agglomeration community of Saint-Malo.

This rate was then 105 per 100,000 inhabitants, with a positivity rate of 7%.

Figures in the regional average but lower than the data for Ille-et-Vilaine, Breton department where the virus circulates most actively and where the number of hospitalizations is growing slowly.

Mandatory mask wearing

These statistics did not prevent the prefect Michèle Kirry from speaking out in favor of wearing the compulsory mask in these five coastal municipalities.

An additional measure deemed "necessary" by the ARS, which intends to continue to reduce the incidence rate.

In his letter, the director of the agency ensures that the early closure of bars at 10 p.m. in Rennes Métropole has "produced positive effects" on the slowdown in the circulation of the virus, especially among young people.

According to the ARS, 111 confirmed cases in the metropolis have occurred in the student community, nearly half of the positive cases recorded last week.
