09 October 2021 Everything is ready for the
Barcolana
, the largest regatta in the world, now in its 53rd edition. The appointment takes place in Trieste every year on the second Sunday of October. At the start a unique glance: sailboats brought by the helmsmen who animate the world sailing circuits, by passionate racers and by cruise passengers. The route is a triangle with a disengagement approximately 13 miles long.
The departure is set at 10:30 on Sunday 10 October between Barcola and Miramare while the arrival in front of the historic Piazza Unità d'Italia in Trieste with over 1,600 registered boats from all over Europe. The Bora that has been blowing over the Gulf for days up to 102 kilometers per hour is moderate expectation.
This year's slogan is
"Nuove Rotte"
to underline how Barcolana is innovating, creating new events on land and at sea, new development for the territory and new developments for the themes it strongly pursues, environmental sustainability and gender equality, themes that it wants to disseminate through the sport and the passion for the sea and sailing to share the passion and love of going to sea.
The
manifesto
of the Barcolana 53 is by designer, architect and artist Ron Arad: the essential and sinuous lines give life to the essence of the regatta itself, namely the sea, boats and sailing.
Rai, as usual Main media partner, will propose the event in different forms on all possible devices: TV, radio, web and social networks.
The Tg, Rainews24, the Gr and the Tgr will talk about the progress of the regatta, the Tgr Friuli Venezia Giulia will continue to spread images and stories from Trieste live while it will be Rai Sport (and Rai3 on channel 103 for the FVG) - with the voice of Giulio Guazzini, Sunday 10 October starting at 10 - to describe, live, every moment of the race.
The closing of the 53rd edition of the Barcolana will be proposed, as well as by Rai Sport, also by 'Agora' weekend 'which, at 8 on Rai3, will be live from Piazza Unità d'Italia for the' let go '.
