Former US President Barack Obama will be the guest of the first episode of Michelle Obama's new podcast, the former First Lady announced on Twitter on Friday, ahead of the program's launch on July 29.

For what is billed as its first season, "The Michelle Obama Podcast", broadcast exclusively on Spotify, will consist of a series of interviews between the former First Lady and her relatives, with only one guest per episode.

The podcast is produced by the company created in 2018 by the Obama couple, Higher Ground, which has entered into partnerships with Spotify but also Netflix.

"For the first episode, I'm going to chat with someone whose voice you will probably recognize instantly," Michelle Obama says in the show's trailer.

The Obamas will, unsurprisingly, evoke the coronavirus pandemic and the protest movement born after the death of George Floyd, according to the specialist site Variety, which was able to listen to part of the episode.

Barack Obama has been a guest on podcasts before, most recently in 2017 on "Pod Save America," where he was interviewed by his former writers, the people who helped him write his speeches.

Already very popular, Michelle Obama caused a sensation with her book "Devenir", published in November 2018 and which has sold more than 11.5 million copies worldwide.

The release of the book was accompanied by a series of conferences that brought together tens of thousands of people in several countries, as well as by a documentary, posted on Netflix in May.
